Northumberland County in eastern PA is under way with a plan to open a new OHV Park. Now I know at first this sounds like a good idea but the land they are going to take has been used by locals for generations for free. It is land they hunted, farmed, mined, and built their homesteads on. The proposed plan only includes a small section for atvs with the rest reserved for hiking, biking, and other non motorized activities. It will all be controlled by the DCNR and with it tons of rules and regulations. Although I am from Jersey I have enjoyed riding on this land and meeting lots of good people. The area is mostly old coal mining communities and when I go there it's like taking a step back in time and I look forward to a trip there whenever I can. You know what they say "bad roads bring good people". Here is an on line petition and by signing it you can help preserve the land and a way of life for a lot of decent folks. Thanks.
